Travel Plan

Arrival

The camping field will be open from 5 pm on Friday. There will be NO access to the field before this time so please plan your arrival for after 5 pm.

The entrance to the site on FRIDAY is from the A470 (see map).

On-site please note the speed limit of 10 mph.

Arriving by coach

Enter the showground from the A470 and follow the main site road. As you approach the “Sheep & Goats” building on your left you will see a checkpoint on your right. We will hold you here and ask a leader to hop off to check everyone in at the Friday Night Nerd Centre. Once you have your campsite pitch number coaches can proceed to the coach drop-off point.

Please unload as quickly as possible so that we can keep the traffic flowing. Personal kit will need to be carried to your camping pitch, but we have some vehicles available to help transport the camping kit. If you can do this using Scout Power, this will be appreciated. Once your coach is unloaded it will be sent down to the main car park and on to the exit. If drivers need to take a tacho break they can park in the main car park.

Coach Drop Off

Arriving by car

Enter the showground from the A470 and follow the main site road into the AWSC one-way system. Drive past three sides of the cattle ring and the first car checkpoint will be on your right.

Dropping off young people by car

Follow the instructions above (Arriving by car) and at the first checkpoint, you will be directed to the right lane where you can pull up into the next available drop-off bay. Unload your young people and their kit and say goodbye here. Young people will be directed to our drop-off team and their arrival status will be checked. If they have been checked in already they will be escorted to their campsite. If their group has yet to check in they will be held at the drop-off zone until their group arrives and checks in – they will be supervised by our drop-off team. Once you have unloaded your precious cargo follow the one-way system down our Main Street, through the main car park and to the exit. Have a great weekend!

Young Person Drop Off

Leaders’ vehicles

Follow the instructions above (Arriving by car) and at the first checkpoint, you will be directed to our left-hand lane. If you are the first leader to arrive for your party/group you will need to check-in and will be directed to a check-in bay where you can leave your car while you go to the Friday Night Nerd Centre. If your group is already checked in and you know your camping pitch you will be directed onto our Main Street and down to the campsite checkpoint. Here you will be directed to your campsite alley where you can unload. Please park on the extreme left of your alley to allow other cars to pass and unload as quickly as possible. After unloading, follow the one-way system to the main car park.

Departure

Sunday Pick up

On Sunday all traffic will arrive and exit via the main car park off the A483 (see map).

Vehicles (cars and coaches arriving to pick up participants) will be allowed to enter the site from 2 pm on Sunday

Coaches and cars will be held in the main car park and

Young people will walk their personal kit and themselves to the pick-up area in the main car park.

We will be running vehicles to help move camping equipment to the pick-up point.

We will open access to the camping field to Leaders’ cars on Sunday at 10 am AND once the Zones have enough volunteer support. This will allow leaders to load up their cars for a quick departure in the afternoon. NOTE: We have struggled in past years to persuade some leaders that their priority on Sunday morning is to volunteer in the Zones, as allocated, rather than pack up their sites. Whilst we fully understand everyone will be keen to get home after the event closes, the Core Team’s is focused on ensuring the young people enjoy a full set of activities on Sunday morning and for this, we rely on the same level of support you have give on Saturday. Thank you.
