Guide to a Happy Camper 2022

The Campsite will open no earlier than 5 pm on Friday evening AND once a site safety inspection has taken place.

Traffic management will be in place during arrival and departure to ensure the safety of all. To find out more check out the travel plan.

Once you arrive on site please ensure that a leader checks in your troop (or you check in if coming as staff).

To ensure the ease of checking in make sure that all health forms are completed and ready to be checked and all information on the booking is also completed fully. This includes Nights Away Permit holder details and In Touch information. This will allow you to pass through quickly and get on with the camping.

All health forms are electronic and must be completed 2 weeks before the event. As this is a new process we have provided a How To guide here.

All adults on site must have a satisfactory result from a Scouting Enhanced DBS check. It is the responsibility of the Troop leader to ensure all those in their group are compliant.

Young people being dropped off by parents/guardians will be dropped off at the Drop Off Zone. For more details, please check the travel plan.

Everyone on site must display an identification wristband and necker (except external contractors) at all times. (Well, except when you are sleeping or in the shower ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyone arriving and leaving the site outside of the allocated arrival and departure times must check in and out with the Nerd Centre (see map).

As part of our mission to be more sustainable and promote a healthy lifestyle, there will be no tuck shop or merch at this event. Therefore there is no need for young people to bring any money with them. If you wish to purchase camp merch that can be done via the link below.

Fires are not permitted on the site and cooking must be done on stoves or similar.

No generators are permitted on site.

Troop leaders are responsible for the behaviour of their Scouts and Leaders during the event.

Smoking is only permitted in the designated smoking area.

All vehicles not staying for the event must leave the site by 9.30 pm on Friday evening.

All vehicles must park in the designated car park and must display a parking permit (easily visible in the front window).

Cars can be moved from the car park to campsites for loading on Sunday once we can confirm there are enough volunteers on the activity zones to deliver our high-quality program.

Please can everyone attend the Closing Celebration on Sunday. This is the largest gathering of Scouts in Wales and we will celebrate the events of the weekend and say, “See you next time!” to All Wales Scout Camp.

Permission to shoot will be needed to allow young people to shoot at the target air rifle base within the Skill Zone. This permission is granted when completing the online health form. We will have a post coming soon with more info on the health form process.

Leaders in your group will be allocated to a Zone to support the activity sessions. The information on which Zone you’ll be part of will be in your information pack (you can specify a preference on your booking). We really need your support to ensure the Scouts have a fantastic experience, Our program team has put so much work into planning and putting together the weekend, but it can’t run without volunteer power. The important thing for us is that you send the number of leaders requested for each session. If you want to mix up which leaders you send that is not a problem. It would be really helpful if you skill each other up on the bases you help with, but most of all please check in with the Zone Team when you arrive to help.

AWSC will conduct risk assessments for all activities organised by the event i.e. like an external provider. Any other activity organised by the group will need a risk assessment carried out by the group. For example, Cooking and Pitching camp, etc.

Really important note: when you are helping at a Zone please bring a mug for the drinks station ๐Ÿ™‚

Our security team will be available on-site at all times.

It goes without saying, but please remember to adhere to the rules of the Association and the guidance supplied on the yellow and green cards.

We are managing the waste on-site in partnership with an external waste contractor. Check here to see the waste plan as it becomes available.

The final session on Sunday (Session 6) is a free choice – a chance for Scouts to revisit favourite activities and things they missed. They can go to more than one Zone within this session.

The Closing Celebration will follow immediately after this and we ask leaders to tell their Scouts to go straight to this before returning to campsites.
